Carl Lindley 5th Dan
Senior Instructor and Chairman of the KDI – Karate-do International

Carl began training in 1975 in Shotokan under Sensei’s Bob Hitchens & Phil Duvall at the Preston Shotokan Club, then at the famous ‘Red Triangle’ Club in Liverpool. He attained his Shodan (Black Belt) in 1981 under Andy Sherry 8th Dan.

Sensei Lindley is a former British Police Karate champion in Kata & Kumite, and has won many open championships medals over the last 25 years. Carl has trained with many of today’s legends in Karate, including Masters Kanazawa, Enoeda and Kawazoe, Andy Sherry, Bob Poynton, Greg Wallace, Ticky Donovan, Tyrone Whyte and many more. A traditionalist at heart, he is a true Karate-ka with real fighting spirit. He was awarded his 5th Dan by sensei Tyrone Whyte in 2005 and is a Chief Inspector in the Metropolitan Police Service.

Carl was recently the Chairperson of the first 2 meetings of the newly formed EKF - English Karate Federation (2007).

Carl was an appointed delegate on the interim Board of the English Karate Federation (National Governing Body of Karate) 2007/08 serving as President.

He is also an appointed delegate on the Board of the English Karate Federation (National Governing Body of Karate) 2008/09.
